Rob Hurtgen

Head Pastor

Pastor Rob Hurtgen and his wife, Shawn, met the Saturday before their freshman year at Southwest Baptist University. Their first date was on Shawn’s birthday, and the two were married in 1995. Together they have been blessed with five children.

Rob loves seeing God at work in and through the lives of others—working in someone’s heart to bring them to salvation, working in them as they grow in Christ, and working through them as they serve Him. He counts it a great joy to play a small part in watching God work in and through His people. Rob’s desire is that those who sit under his ministry would hear a clear and life-changing message of Jesus Christ (Colossians 4:3–4). His prayer is that, together, we would encounter the living God through His living Word and discover how He calls us to live.

Outside of ministry, Pastor Rob enjoys being active, seeking adventure, and doing hard things. Much of life these days, however, is joyfully spent traveling across north Missouri supporting his youngest children at their sporting events.

Gene Washburne

Associate Pastor

Gene Washburn has been married to his wife, Candy, for 27 years, and together they have two sons and a daughter. He is passionate about helping people deepen their fellowship with the Lord through teaching His Word.

Gene loves the multigenerational, family-like culture of the church and the way it cares for one another while warmly welcoming new faces. His hope is that everyone who walks through the doors would feel seen, at home, and drawn closer to Jesus. Outside of ministry, he enjoys camping with his wife (and her dog) and is a great fan of The Lord of the Rings. With all his heart, he hopes to get to know you on earth and see you in heaven.

Caitlin Jones

Minister of Music & Communication

Caitlin and her husband, Tyler, stay busy on their family farm raising their three young and energetic boys.

Caitlin is passionate about helping people see and savor the greatness of God in worship. Drawing from Psalm 34:3, her heart is to “magnify the Lord” by bringing His character, beauty, and glory into clear focus so that people leave changed by His presence. She, too, loves being part of a multigenerational church, and her family has been deeply blessed by the way members of every generation have loved and cared for their children. Caitlin hopes you’ll find a place in the FBC family as well.

When she’s not serving, Caitlin is usually chasing kids and animals, with a much-needed (and often cold) cup of coffee in hand.

Dowell Kincaid

Ministry Assistant

Dowell Kincaid has been part of First Baptist Church Chillicothe since 1989 and is grateful for the many opportunities he’s had to serve both the church and the community. He and his wife, Mary Ellen, have been married for 48 years and have two children, Scott and Staci, along with six grandchildren.

Dowell loves building relationships and working alongside others to meet needs; whether within the church or across the community. His desire is that everyone he connects with would experience the genuine love and compassion of Christ. He’s deeply thankful for his church family, his community, and the blessings of this country, and hopes to see faith continue to grow in everyday life for generations to come.
